The End of Karla's Vacation

I really had a fabulous time. We did so many fun things. It was a real vacation! Plus naps everyday, what could be better? (Having the rest of my family with me, would have been better!) The last time I was in Tucson was for Adrian's bridal shower, 3 1/2 yrs ago. I should really visit Tucson more often.

Thank you so much to the Farr Family and to Dad/Grandpa Keith for having me visit.

Thank you to Reed and Shelby for making my trip possible and worry-free.

I Love you all.

(part 5) Mt Lemmon

On Wed (3/5) Kelsey and Austin both had a half day of school which was nice, because Dad, Tanya and I, were already planning a trip up Mt. Lemmon to have lunch and pie at a little cafe that we had heard about. It was fun that Kelsey and Austin got to join us. We went from Tucson's elavation of about 2500' and 75* to the cafe's elavation of about 8000' and 43*. Yes, there was snow on the sides of the road, I got out to take pictures and Austin got out to grab a handful of snow! We went from saguaro cactus to snow in about an hour's drive. Again, another fun outing. Thanks Grandpa for treating us to lunch and pie!

(part 4) Kartchner Caverns

On Tues (3/4) Tanya had purchased tickets for her and I to go to Kartchner Caverns. I had never been there before. It is a spectacular cave. The cave has only been open to the public since November 1999. The initial opening was the Throne and Rotunda rooms. In November 2003, they opened the Big room. The cave was first discovered in 1974. Check out http://www.explorethecaverns.com/ It was fun for Tanya and I to spend the day together.

Karla's Vacation (part 3)

Sunday evening (3/2) after church, after naps, after dinner... we played the game "Apples to Apples". We (at least "I") had alot of fun, it was my first time playing this game. It is my new favorite game to play. On Monday, Tanya made a big batch of green chile for me to bring some back home, and then after Monday dinner, they humored me and we played Apples to Apples again, just for me!

Karla's Vacation (part 2b)

Saturday evening ALL of us met Adrian and Dustin at a restaurant called El Paso Grill. It has become on of Dad's favorites. He ordered a huge T-bone steak. We had 10 family members at dinner. Thanks Dad/Grandpa Keith for the idea and for treating us! It was wonderful! Everyone had a good time visiting with each other.
From left to right (on left picture) Adrian, Karla, Grandpa Keith, Tanya, Mark, Kelsey, Nolan, Kendle and Austin, with Dustin taking the picture. On the right picture Dustin is at the end of the table and Mark is taking the picture.

Karla's Vacation (part 2a)

Ok, on with my fun vacation. Saturday (3/1) was a relaxing day for me as I slept in. But not Tanya, as she had an all day RS conference that she was on the committee for. Then she and (Bishop) Mark had a baptism and a wedding reception to go to. Kendle and her "friend" Nolan, drove home from school on Friday night just to see ME! and the Farrs, and Grandpa, and a baby blessing, and, and.... but Me, too! So Sat morning, Mark, Austin and Nolan were working on building a tree fort. Grandpa and I occasionally would wander outside and sit and watch the work. (don't mind the date on the pics... oops forgot to set the date on the camera).

Later that afternoon, there was a little "daring" of the cold swimming pool going on between Nolan, Kendle, Kelsey & Austin. Nolan was excited to do back flips off the diving board, but the "Farr" kids knew the water was cold, after all it was only March 1st and the air temp was 75*. They all got wet and Grandpa and I loved watching them!!!!

Karla's Vacation (part 1)

Thank you Reed and Shelby for letting me go to Tucson, to visit the Farrs and Grandpa Keith. I had a wonderful time. I got to Tucson on Wed (2-27). That evening I got to see Adrian and Dustin's house and then Grandpa, Tanya, Adrian, Dustin and I went to dinner at La Parrilla Suiza. We had yummy Mexican food my first night there.
I had my favorite chicken enchiladas suizas.

On Fri (2-29) Tanya, Dad and I went to a spring training baseball game, between the Arizona DiamondBacks and the Chicago White Soxs. We had perfect seats and perfect weather. Our seats were up the first base side and in the shade. It was about 83* with a slight breeze, sunny and blue sky. A wonderful day for a ball game, peanuts, cracker jacks, hot dogs, bbq chicken sandwiches. It could only have been better if AZ had won.... Chicago 7 - AZ 5.

The baseball game was so much fun but we had to come home and take naps!! But isn't vacation for napping??!!

Later on Friday night, Mark, Tanya, Dad and I went to a neigborhood restaurant called "Risky Business" for a late dinner. It was nice for just the four of us to get a chance to visit.

Stay tuned for more vacation fun to come.........
